Dr. Zhuang Guanglun, a professor majoring in Gynecology and Obstetrics of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. He graduated from the Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in 1960 and set up a center of reproductive medicine in his hospital with the largest scale in China in 1988. For years he has committed himself to introduce new ART techniques into China, such as ICSI and PGD and made them the routine items for IVF. All his effort has shorten the gap of technical level greatly between the world and China. Furthermore, as a vanguard in ART field and a tutor of PhD program, Dr. Zhuang has helped to establish over 70% reproductive centers in China. Most of his PhD students have become the backbone and experts in ART field. For all these reasons, Dr. Zhuang was named as the father of IVF in China and selected as the first chairman of the Global Chinese Reproductive Society in 2002.
